Ordering custom furniture from Indonesia to the US, step by step
Every step from deposit to container pickup, how long making and shipping take, and how we answer the two worries US clients have.

Ordering custom furniture from the other side of the world feels like a leap. It does not need to. Here is exactly what happens between your order and the day your container leaves Java, in the order it happens.
1. Order and deposit
Once the order is placed, we send an invoice. A 50% deposit starts the project.
2. Technical drawings
Our team produces technical drawings for every piece, so dimensions, materials and details are agreed before any wood is cut.

3. Drying the wood
The wood goes into drying for two to four weeks, unless we already have dried stock in a size close to the components. Properly dried wood is what keeps a piece from cracking or moving once it reaches a different climate.

4. Pre-production
The components are cut, shaped and arranged before assembly.
5. Quality control, from start to finish
QC is not a single check at the end. Pieces are inspected from the beginning of the process to the end.

6. Assembly, final QC and cleaning
Each piece is assembled, inspected one last time and cleaned.
7. Packing
Furniture is packed in export cartons and crates, then brought to a central warehouse for loading.

8. Balance payment
The remaining 50% is paid once you have seen the finished pieces, either in person or through photos with a spec sheet showing the final dimensions.
9. Container and export documents
We load the container and prepare the packing list, commercial invoice and every export document Indonesia and your country require.
10. Pickup
The container is collected by your own freight forwarder, or by one we recommend.
What US clients worry about, and how we answer it
The first worry is whether the real materials will match the spec: the fabric, the wood grain, the stone texture, the colour, the metal finish. That is why we send pre-shipment photos and QC reports with the finished measurements, so you see your pieces before they leave.
The second is the journey. One to two months inside a container on rough seas is punishing for furniture that isn’t properly protected. Every piece goes into export cartons and crates built for that trip.
How long does it take?
Making high-quality furniture in Java takes a solid 60 to 90 days, which includes technical drawings and proper wood seasoning. Shipping then takes about 30 to 60 days to the US, or 20 to 30 days to the Middle East. Duties and import costs depend on what you order and current US rules, so confirm them with your freight forwarder or customs broker before you order.
